The National Testing Agency (NTA) released the NEET UG 2025 results on June 14, 2025, exciting and worrying over 22.7 lakh students aiming for medical courses like MBBS and BDS. Along with the results, NTA shared the cut-off scores for different categories, which decide who can apply for counselling to get into medical colleges. This year, the cut-offs are lower because the exam, especially Physics, was tougher. Here’s a simple guide to the NEET UG 2025 cut-offs, how to check your results, and what to do next.
NEET UG 2025 Cut-Off Scores
The cut-off is the minimum score you need to qualify for counselling. The NEET UG 2025 cut-offs, announced on June 14, 2025, are lower than last year because the exam was harder. Here are the cut-off scores for each category:
- General/Unreserved (UR) and EWS: 686–144 marks (50th percentile)
- OBC, SC, and ST: 143–113 marks (40th percentile)
- General-PwD (Persons with Disability): 161–144 marks (45th percentile)
- OBC-PwD, SC-PwD, ST-PwD: 126–113 marks (40th percentile)
Last year (2024), the General category cut-off was 720–162, so this year’s cut-off is about 40–50 marks lower. This drop happened because the exam was tougher, and fewer students scored high marks.
How to Check Your NEET UG 2025 Results
To see if you’re above the cut-off, follow these easy steps to check your results:
- Go to the official NTA websites: neet.nta.nic.in or nta.ac.in.
- Look for the “NEET UG 2025 Result” link under the Public Notice section and click it.
- Enter your application number, date of birth, and the security pin shown on the screen.
- Click submit to see your scorecard, which shows your marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, total score, percentile, All India Rank (AIR), and whether you qualified.
- Download and print your scorecard for counseling and admission.
If the website is slow due to too many users, wait a few minutes and try again. Make sure your internet is working. If you forgot your application number, click “Forgot Application Number” on the website, enter your name, parents’ names, date of birth, and security code to get it back.
Why Are the Cut-Offs Lower This Year?
The NEET UG 2025 exam, held on May 4, 2025, was tougher than previous years. The Physics section had tricky calculations, and Biology took a lot of time. Experts say the exam time was also cut by 20 minutes, making it harder to finish. No one scored above 686 marks this year, compared to 720 in past years. Also, fewer students (23.09 lakh) took the exam compared to 24 lakh in 2024, reducing competition. Plus, there are more MBBS seats now (1,18,190), which helped lower the cut-offs.
What to Do If You’re Above the Cut-Off
If your score is above the cut-off, great job! You can now apply for NEET 2025 counselling to get into medical colleges. The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) handles counselling for 15% All India Quota (AIQ) seats, while state authorities manage 85% state quota seats. Counselling is likely to start in July 2025. Here’s what to do next:
- Sign Up for Counseling: Check mcc.nic.in for AIQ counselling or your state’s counselling website for state seats.
- Get Documents Ready: Have your NEET scorecard, Class 12 mark sheet, ID proof, and category certificate (if needed) prepared.
- Use College Predictors: Websites like careers360.com or collegedekho.com have tools to guess which colleges you might get based on your rank and category.
For top colleges like AIIMS Delhi, you’ll need around 660–670 marks. Other government medical colleges may need 530–560 marks for AIQ seats. State cut-offs differ—Maharashtra and Delhi might need 530–540 marks, while north-eastern states could be lower.

What If You Didn’t Make the Cut-Off?
If your score is below the cut-off, don’t give up. You might still get into private medical colleges, BDS, BAMS (Ayurveda), BHMS (Homeopathy), or paramedical courses like B.Sc. Nursing, which have lower cut-offs (around 250–400 marks). Or, you can start preparing for NEET 2026, focusing on managing time better and practicing Physics.
